The only disadvantage I have found is that often, some good items have short use by dates. There are times when It is more convenient to shop online. This is often when the case weather is bad. There are so many vouchers online and cash back sites which are really simple ways to save money. So, take advantage of this. Also, there are so many voucher codes which can prove to be very useful.

I often bag myself free shipping, simply by searching for discount codes. This can really add up over the course of the year.  Remember, there are dedicated websites, which will search the web to find savings and even free samples.

There is an app, which I used the other day where I managed to save £15 on my £80 order. This wasn’t bad, considering that it saved me money on a return cab fare.

Another simple way to save money is to buy in bulk when the sales are on. I only buy what I actually use a lot.  Below is what I bulk buy:

  • Shampoo
  • Butter
  • Rice
  • Coffee
  • Pasta
  • Passata
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Ketchup
  • Coconut oil
  • Baked beans
  • Office Supplies
  • Cereals (especially branded – on sale sometimes work out cheaper than store brands)

Coupons are an excellent way to save on your grocery shop. You can find them online, sometimes directly from the retailers’ site. It is a good idea to note on the calendar the date on which your coupons expire.

Buy fruit and vegetables from market stalls. A lot of the time it is often cheaper to buy fruits and vegetables from market stalls. This is particularly when the fruits and vegetables are in season. There has been many occasions when I have has twice of many strawberries for less money. The taste of the produce has been just as nice, not to mention healthy.

I like the fact that the produce is often sourced locally is another simple way to save money.   This approach is great for the environment and for community spirit. Buying from outdoor markets can be fun and is a great option for those who prefer to buy in bulk. More on saving money.

Plan your meals for the week and you will buy only what you need.

Avoid impulse buying and don’t buy more than what you need.

Cook from scratch rather than overspending on pre-made foods or takeaways.

Stay away from convenience foods like frozen dinners or ready-to-eat salads; they tend to be expensive and less nutritious than you think.
