
Preparing your kids for school is never easy. I know that lunch, combined with other domestic tasks can be hectic, at the best of times. Moreover, creativity is required when it comes to preparing healthy lunches for kids. I know that it takes effort to send children to school with nutritious, tasty lunch.
I always ensure that I have the right packaging for my child’s food. Hot foods have to remain warm, cold foods have to remain cold. Below, are some easy to prepare lunches. These are good ideas for school lunches, for you to try.
Crumpet Toppings

Crumpets are definitely one of my favourite, easy lunch ideas for children because they are so versatile. This is a quick and affordable kid’s lunch. Below are my delicious topping ideas:
- Grated Cheese
- Salad
- Sausages
- Poached eggs
- Scrambled eggs
- Tuna mayonnaise
Delicious Kabobs
Kabobs – Children like it. Take some pieces of chicken, cheese, bread, grapes without seeds, any other fruit and place on a stick. You can use disposable sticks for your kid to throw away after they are done. All food groups can easily be included in this recipe.
Pancake Toppings
Pancakes, are perfect for quick snack. Use them as a base to load on your delicious toppings. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, opt for savoury pancakes instead. I usually put the following toppings on my pancakes.
- Lemon
- Syrup
- Berries
- Sausages
- Bananas
- Ice Cream
Tasty Quesadillas
Quesadillas – You just need a tortilla, a little cheese, chicken, black pepper and various sauces. Add some sliced apples to balance the lunch. Add a box of juice (low sugar) and you’ve got a nutritious lunch.
Vegetables and hummus, are a flavoursome combination. Children like to dip stuff. In a lunch carton add hummus, and diced carrots. Then add tortilla chips bread, and fruit. Hummus is just beans, and it’s packed with protein. Moreover, hummus is nutritious.

Hurray for Crackers
Crackers & Cheese – Crackers, some spring onion, cheese and you’re done. Add sliced apples, carrot sticks and a box of juice. Now you have a healthy school lunch for your child.
Tuna & Crackers – Instead of a soaked tuna sandwich, prepare a tuna salad. Add wheat crackers so your child can make tiny tuna sandwiches. Remember to Include vegetable sticks. This is a good example of balanced lunch. Another simple lunch for children
Add Kiwi to Salads
Hard-boiled Egg Lunch – Easily make a hard-boiled egg salad. Add lettuce, grated cheese, and peppers. Add kiwis, they taste delicious when added to salads.
