It’s hard to imagine a world without sleep. We need this every night for energy, concentration and the ability to think clearly. But what happens when we don’t get enough?
In this blog post, I will furnish you with better sleep tips and examine how sleep deprivation affects your body and mind. Lack of sleep is a growing problem in the modern world. It may be caused by many factors, including stress, drinking and depression. But what exactly happens to your body when you don’t get a lot of sleep?

I had never valued the importance of sleep, until I found myself unable to nap. It was the most frustrating time. When you are having a hard time trying to fall asleep, you get desperate for better sleep. I never knew that sleeping 8 hours a night or more reduces the risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes. If that’s not enough a lack of sleep could also lead to high blood pressure and problems with your memory. So listen up people, sleep is important part of your health. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the last things most of us consider when it comes to improving overall productivity.

When researching the topic of better sleep I realised that everything works in tandem, healthy, staying hydrated and doing moderate exercise should be an absolute priority. Having a better sleep should be one of the first improvements you bring to create a healthy and productive way of life for yourself.

A good night’s sleep will also help to reduce stress. Furthermore it will enhance your memory and improve your mood. When you think about it, the idea of losing weight, being healthier, and reducing stress just by sleeping, sounds like a tall order. Sleep is important to our brain because we experience cycles of deep sleep and REM sleep that help us process the information of the day. How Much Sleep Do I Need?

For many people, sleep is a given. After all, it’s just a couple more hours every night. But the truth is that lack of sleep can seriously affect our health and well-being. How much sleep your body needs depends on where you find yourself in life. It also changes depending on your age and overall health. Generally, adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night, but this number will fluctuate depending on what age bracket they fall into. For example:
A newborn may need 12 hours of night rest, while a teenager might be able to make do with just 7 hours if they feel good about themselves!


Why Do We Need To Sleep?

Sleeping allows our over exerted bodies to have a well deserved rest. There have been times when I was unable to sleep due to noisy neighbours. This resulted in me feeling off balance and not being able to function properly. A lot of people claim they don’t have time for sleeping. However, the reality is that most of us need much more than we get. From my personal experience a lack of slumber over time makes me feel sluggish and irritable. I must admit I do envy those lucky people who, due to their genetics (a rare genetic mutation), can function normally on less than 8 hours of kip each night.


When it comes to getting proper kip, while it varies slightly for different people, most of us (as adults) need between 7 and 9 hours of shut eye each night. One of my better sleep tips is to do keep a sleep diary. Most of the time I manage to get 8 hours of sleep a night. Furthermore, at weekends I fare better, usually sleeping for up to 10 hours a night. I would advise anyone who is worried about there sleep, should check with their doctor.

How To Have A Relaxing Sleep Environment

Now is the time to make some changes! One of the easiest ways to change your bedroom into a relaxing space is by adding calming colors. Research has shown that people who sleep in blue rooms are more relaxed than those who sleep in red or yellow rooms. Try painting one wall with light blue paint and leave the others white or cream for now. You can also use light coloured pillows and linens that complement this color scheme if you don’t want to repaint anything yet.
Aromatherapy is another great way to help ease stress levels before bedtime. Another one of my better sleep tips, is to light some scented candles, and put on some soothing music,

Get A Good Night’s Sleep

Having a good night’s sleep is essential for your health. It can be difficult to fall asleep in an uncomfortable bumpy bed, so take some time to make your bedroom relaxing and comfortable. Most people fall within about 20 minutes without any issues. Regardless of when you sleep, getting quality sleep is vital.
